Adoptable Dogs

If you are searching for a new companion to join your family, then you're in luck! On the average day, The Happy Little Rescue is home to over 50 adoptable pets. We believe that there is a perfect home out there for each of our temporary residents, and no matter how long it takes we strive to help them find it. Our mission is to ensure that each of the animals in our care live a happy and healthy life while awaiting their forever home.

You can fill out a general Adoption or Foster application below and text our phone (970-424-8224) to schedule a meet and greet.

Casper

Casper is a 3-year-old cattle dog mix with the energy of a toddler on espresso and a love language that involves… light nibbling. When he gets overly excited or overstimulated—which, let’s be honest, is often—he channels all that enthusiasm into gentle little love chomps. It’s his way of saying, “I’m thrilled to be here and also your wrist looks delicious!” Luckily, Casper’s nibble mode is easy to switch off with a toy or treat—he’s like, “Oh, you brought snacks? Never mind, I’ll bite that instead.” With his big personality, playful spirit, and snack-based attention span, Casper keeps life entertaining and full of laughs—just keep the toys handy and your sleeves slightly out of reach.

Yoda

Meet Yoda, a spirited one-year-old black lab with boundless energy and a knack for living in the moment. Yoda's exuberance sometimes gets the better of him, as he struggles with impulse control and doesn't always consider the consequences of his actions. As a result, Yoda is currently not available for adoption, but he's seeking a very experienced foster who can guide him through training and help him learn boundaries and self-control. With the right guidance and structure, Yoda's intelligence and eagerness to please promise great potential for growth. If you're an experienced handler ready to commit to Yoda's development, he's eager for a foster home that can provide the guidance and patience he needs to become a well-behaved and beloved companion.

Athena

Adoption Pending!

Athena is a 10-month-old black Lab mix and an absolute goofball in the best possible way. She’s the kind of dog who will chase her tail like it just insulted her, then snuggle up like a baby five minutes later. Full of love, wiggles, and zoomies, Athena is always ready for fun—unless chicken is involved. Yep, her one Achilles’ heel is chicken… which is basically her mortal enemy. One nibble and she turns into an itchy mess, so she’s strictly Team Beef or anything-but-chicken. Aside from that culinary quirk, Athena is the total package: sweet, silly, and ready to steal your heart (and probably your socks).

Chloe & Lola

Adoption Pending!

Chloe and Lola are two beautiful 1-year-old Great Pyrenees sisters who have overcome a tough journey to find safety and love. These sweet girls were on the brink of being euthanized after they struggled to adjust when separated, but now that they are safe and happy at the rescue, they are thriving together. Chloe and Lola are looking for their forever home where they can stay by each other's side, as they’ve built a strong bond. While they may chase livestock and have a taste for chickens, they’re wonderful with other dogs and people, and their gentle nature makes them loving companions. These sisters are ready to share their love and loyalty with a family who will embrace them as the inseparable duo they are!

Natalie

Natalie is a sweet and gentle 10 month-old Retriever mix who may be a bit shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her loving and playful personality shines through. Though she might take some time to adjust to new people and environments, her affectionate nature makes her a joy to be around once she’s settled in. Natalie enjoys exploring and playing, and she quickly forms strong bonds with those who earn her trust. With patience and kindness, she’s sure to blossom into a loyal and loving companion, ready to bring happiness to her forever home.

Tessum

Tessum is a 2-year-old Shepherd mix who’s not just handsome—he’s also played an important role in shaping the future vets of America! This sweet boy was part of a veterinary training program where he helped students learn essential skills, all while receiving excellent care, socialization, and lots of attention. As a result, Tessum is in incredible health, knows how to make friends easily, and has some of the best manners around. He’s the perfect mix of smart, social, and steady—ready to leave his teaching days behind and become the star student in someone’s forever home!

Gigi

Gigi is a resilient and affectionate 2-year-old pit bull with a heart full of love. While much of her past is unknown, what is certain is that she has an incredible spirit and a deep desire for companionship. She was found extremely weak and malnourished, but despite her struggles, she remains a fighter. Gigi has limited use of her front legs, but that doesn’t stop her—she’s determined and has found her own way to get around. Though she’s not quite ready for a permanent home, she would greatly benefit from a dedicated foster who can provide the care, patience, and support she needs to regain her strength. With the right love and attention, Gigi will continue to show just how strong and special she truly is.

Gator

Meet Gator, a 10-month-old shepherd mix with the heart of a marshmallow and the confidence of a squirrel at a rave. This handsome boy is a special case—he’s been in foster care for about 5 months, and while he’s made some huge strides (he now believes humans aren’t all terrifying giants), he’s still a bit skeptical about this whole “touch” thing. Pets? Hmm, maybe later. Hugs? Let’s not get crazy. Gator is looking for someone with lots of love, endless patience, and preferably a stash of treats to bribe him into trusting your weird human ways. He may not be a snuggler yet, but he’s a quiet, gentle soul who will make you feel like a dog whisperer every time he takes a step forward. Think of him as your very own emotionally complex rescue project—with adorable ears.

Rebel

Meet Rebel, our 9-month-old Catahoula mix and resident water park enthusiast! Rebel first joined us as a wiggly little pup, found a home, and then bounced back (literally) when his adopter’s health took a turn—not because Rebel wasn’t perfect, but because life threw a plot twist. This boy is all energy and splash, with springs for legs and a deep passion for any body of water bigger than a puddle (though he won’t turn his nose up at a good puddle either). He’s equal parts silly, sweet, and soaked—basically a wet noodle with spots. Rebel is ready to bounce his way into a forever home that appreciates a good splash zone and a whole lot of love!

Cupid

Adoption Pending!

Meet Cupid, the little heart thief with four paws and the most irresistible puppy eyes you’ve ever seen! This young Rottie mix has us all wrapped around his chunky little toes—one tail wag and we’re smitten. With his sweet nature, floppy ears, and a face that could melt steel, Cupid has quite literally stolen our hearts (and probably a few shoes along the way). Whether he’s waddling after toys or snuggling into your lap like a baby, this boy is pure love in puppy form.

Valentino

Adoption Pending!

Say hello to Valentino, a young Rottie mix with a heart as big as his paws! This sweet boy is all about gentle tail wags, soft cuddles, and looking at you with those soulful puppy eyes that say, “I love you already.” Valentino may be young, but he’s already mastered the art of winning hearts with his calm, affectionate nature and lovable personality. Whether he’s toddling around exploring or curling up beside you for a nap, he’s the perfect mix of charm and sweetness—truly a little gentleman in the making!

Smoky

Adoption Pending!

Meet Smoky, our 3-year-old Pit mix with a heart of gold and the manners to match! Smoky spent time in a veterinary training program down in Texas, where he received top-tier vet care, training, and socialization—basically a doggy Ivy League education. Despite graduating with honors in charm and obedience, he wasn’t adopted before the program ended and was returned to the shelter through no fault of his own. Smoky is a total lovebug who thrives on affection and makes fast friends with just about everyone he meets. He’s well-behaved, eager to please, and more than ready to trade kennel life for a comfy couch and a family of his own.
